Now he’s cooking!

Philip says in the past his wife did most of the cooking for the family, but being on plan got him involved in some meal preparation. He got into the habit of planning meals ahead of time, and stocked up on scallops, seafood, and healthy green leafy vegetables like cabbage, kale, and mustard greens. “Medifast is great because once you’ve lost the weight, they teach you what to do afterwards, like how to order healthier choices in restaurants.”

About his prized possession

Self-respecting Texans knows that a gold ring from Texas A&M is a distinctive badge of honor that breaks the ice—and opens doors. Philip was accepted and went to College Station fresh out of high school, but the money ran out and he couldn’t finish. Decades later Philip went back, and in 2011 earned a Master’s degree—and his own Aggie ring—at last.
