Being overweight was slowing me down and taxing me physically, mentally, and emotionally. I had no energy, and my back hurt constantly. Turning 40 was my wake-up call: I needed to do something to get the excess weight off once and for all, and get healthy.
I found Medifast online and started comparing it to other plans. Being a working mom with a full-time job, I didn't have the time for a lot of food preparation and planning, or regular meetings with groups, counselors, and weigh-ins. I also needed something that would fit my budget. What I liked about Medifast and what prompted me to try it was that looked like it would work with my busy schedule. Also, it's structured, which I needed, and it had medical support behind it. I decided this was the program for me and placed my order.
After about three weeks I began to notice my clothes getting looser, and about a month after starting a few friends started noticing. About a month and half into the program I found I needed to start buying new clothes since my size 14s were too big and I didn't have anything in a 10 or 12.
I can run now. I'd never been a runner prior to starting Medifast. Now I run 15 to 20 miles a week and have competed in two 5K races. I have a long-term goal of completing a half marathon, which is something I never even would have considered a year and a half ago.
